May Trestleboard

Greetings from the East!

May is on the horizon, and with it comes more and more daylight. The sun lingers a bit longer in the sky, and its warmth carries further into the evening. It’s a small but powerful reminder that light endures, and that even during darker seasons of our lives it will slowly and steadily return.

In many ways, this time of year can remind us of our Masonic path. Just as the light stretches further each day, the light within us also grows and increases. We can each encourage that growth through our actions, our words, and the way we carry ourselves in the world.

This month, I encourage each of us to reflect on the ways we can grow and increase our light. Not rapidly, but steadily and consistently over time. Whether that’s checking in on a Brother you haven’t seen in a while, mentoring someone new to the Lodge, or simply bringing a positive spirit to our next meeting. All of those encourage light to grow and spread.

I look forward to the work ahead through degrees, charitable work, and great fellowship. Thank you for the light you bring to our Lodge. Let’s keep encouraging it to grow together!

Fraternally and appreciatively,

Stephen Carlson
Worshipful Master
Denver Lodge No.5

April 2025 Trestleboard

Pablo Colomban Events, Master's Message, Trestleboard Tagged

Greetings from the East!

April and Daylight Savings time are here, and with them also comes our annual reminder of accountability…. Tax Day.

While not everyone enjoys this season of forms and searching for missing receipts, it serves as an important reminder of responsibility. Just as we are expected to keep our financial affairs in order, so too should we take time to reflect on our obligations as Masons, both to our Lodge and to one another.

In Masonry we often talk about how life requires careful planning and thoughtful investment. Just as we review our W2’s and 1099’s we should also review our personal and fraternal commitments. Are we setting aside time to strengthen our bonds with our brethren? Are we giving of ourselves through time, mentorship, or charitable efforts? Are we staying true to the various obligations we’ve made?

This season is not just about resolving debts but also about ensuring a solid foundation for the future. A well-prepared tax return provides stability, just as a well-measured Masonic journey provides personal growth and fulfillment. The principles we live by are investments that yield returns far greater than financial gain.

As we move forward this month, let’s commit to balancing our personal ledgers along with our financial ones. Let’s make time for our Lodge and for each other. After all, the true value of our fraternity isn’t measured in numbers but in the strength of our brotherhood.

Fraternally and appreciatively,

Stephen Carlson
